As Americans of Italian descent, we wish to voice our strong indignation at the ethnic content of the <<describe the program and defamatory contents>>. We take particular exception to yet another in a seemingly endless succession of scenarios which depict Italian-Americans in a negative stereotypical and otherwise uncomplimentary fashion. Consequently, it is the considered opinion of myself and others that the type of portrayals appearing in the above program (as well as other network programming) does a definite disservice to the Italian-American community at large. Also note that in expressing our concerns to the network, we asserted that a growing number of Americans of Italian background are becoming increasingly disinclined to acquiesce to the presence of unfair and unbalanced ethnic depiction in the media. We are alerting you to the above because we recognize that such programming is totally inconsistent with your company's reputable image. Sincerely, Your Name.

Italian-American One Voice Committee is a national network of activists enabling the Italian-American community to act as one united voice when dealing with defamation, discrimination and negative stereotyping. Member organizations provide a liaison with the IA One Voice Committee to disseminate information to the Italian-American community and protest with one voice against each outrage against our heritage, culture and character. |
